Green Building Council
Bringing the NAHB National Green Building Program to your backyard!
The Green Building Council of the Home Builders Association of Greater Des Moines brings together those in the housing industry, including Certified Green Professionals (CGP) and others in the planning, building, remodeling, marketing and selling of high performance homes and related products and services. Its purpose is to provide and promote NAHB Green Building programs, standards and educational opportunities for its members and the public. The council provides a forum for professionals in the industry to promote high efficiency home standards and best practices, to network with others in the industry and to take a proactive role as leaders in the high efficiency housing industry.
Local home building associations are critical components of the NAHB National Green Building Program; no group of dedicated professionals knows a local area better than the HBAs serving them. In response to an exploding market for sustainable, environmentally friendly and recycled building products, The HBA of Greater DesMoines is developing local green building programs to help their members meet consumer demands for green building. In addition to all the benefits achieved when a home is built green, there are many benefits of a local green building program, including:- Marketing materials, training, and education to help you investigate green building options,
- Opportunities to network with others in your area that are going green, and
- Local knowledge of green products and resources.
